Using the Gerber EDGE® printer

The Basics
  1. Strip a wire and fray it out
  2. Connect wires using a wire nut
  3. Making connections using conductive tape
  4. Hook up your inverter/power supply
  5. Laminating your EL light

  1. Wire - 20-22 gauge
  2. Vinyl electrical tape/wire nuts
  3. Wire strippers
  4. Scissors
  5. Inverter/Power Supply
  6. Digitel EL material
  7. ZeroNine Conductive Foil
  8. Conductive Tape

Step 1: Locating the end of your wire

Locate the end of your 20-22 gauge wire. If the end is covered with a rubber coating then we need strip the wire so that we can make an electical connection.

Step 2: Stripping the wire

Place approximately 1/2" of wire into one of the slots on your wire strippers. To remove the outer coating, close the wire strippers and pull the wire. The coating should slide off and you should see a bunch of wire strands.

Step 3: Fraying the wire strands

Using your finger, spread out the wire stands so that they are not all clumped together. Doing this will give you the best electrical connection.
