Our Green Efforts
Since 1998, ZeroNine has been recycling OEM plastic components for both the Gerber EDGE® printer and the Roland ColorCAMM® printers. Don't throw away your empty cartridges, we'll clean them up and give them a new home. Components that are recycled range from the cartridge frame or body, the four ribbon end-caps, the plastic cores, and even the clam shell packaging. By recycling the OEM parts we are able to offer our product at a discount and transfer these savings to you!
ZeroNine began selling 3rd party ribbons for use on the Gerber EDGE® printers. We were the first to modify the OEM cartridge to make it refillable which would otherwise be deemed garbage. This refillable option allowed users to buy our ribbons as refills, which reduces shipping costs and waste. A few years later, ZeroNine introduced the Shuttle cartridge which is a ZeroNine refillable cartridge for the Gerber EDGE® that makes the process even easier. The Shuttle cartridge is evidence of ZeroNine's on-going effort to help save the Earth and transfer you any cost savings by ordering in refills.
Along with modifying OEM cartridges to make them refillable, ZeroNine was also the first to introduce the ribbons at 100 yard lengths. These "Jumbo" rolls save the environment from another wasted cartridge and also save our customer time in reloading. When the ZeroNine "Jumbo" roll was introduced, the OEM tried miserably to void printer warranties that ran these longer ribbons in the attempt to take our market share by scaring customers away. The OEM failed to prove it caused failures and couldn't back up their claims it was also against the law. In fact, when the newest printer was introduced they to conceded the fight and started selling their ribbons at 100 yard lengths. If you ever had such an issue or still are fighting it, see our warranty information webpage or contact us directly.
Recycling Does Work
Since 1998, we have saved enough cartridges that it would consume 96,209 cubic feet of landfill space or enough cartridges that if stacked would reach over 110 miles in the air. To give this perspective, Chicago to Milwaukee is 91 miles. Los Angeles to San Diego is 121, and driving across Florida from Naples to Fort Lauderdale is 110 miles. We would like to thank everybody for using ZeroNine and everybody who contributes to this Green Effort.

How to Get Involved if you have a Gerber EDGE® printer
We welcome OEM EDGE® 1, 2, and FX plastic components for recycling. In return for recycling EDGE® cartridges, ZeroNine offers $1.00 for the cartridge + $0.35 for shipping per cartridge and the money is put in credit toward your next order. We can credit your account for future purchases or put them aside for your future use which can save you $5.00 when you order your ribbons in cartridge form. If you wish to help us by sending your waste follow these instructions. For more information on FX refills, call ZeroNine at 1-800-325-0911.
- Cut off the ribbon using a sharp box knife. Cut off the ribbon in the width direction. Be careful not to slip and cut yourself! When you cut off the old ribbon you are doing three things. The package weight will be much less and your jobs will not be shared with others, and it keeps our costs down so that we can transfer the savings back to you.
- We do not want the cardboard sleeves, give them to your box recycling company.
- Using a BIG box, include 20 cartridges minimum per box. Insert the cartridges in a back and fourth direction to save space.
- Close up the box and call UPS for a pickup. Their toll free number is 1-800-742-5877, wait for the prompt and press #2. The approximate weight of a 20 cartridge box is 20lbs.
- Complete the Gerber Recycling Form and include one for each box.
- Fill out the address label form and tape it to the top of the box.
